Tax Free (Global Blue)

The pairing screen of the tablet app

An optional add-on for stores that sell to travellers from outside the EU. It needs a Global Blue account, one desk per store, a printer for the forms and a tablet at the counter running the zrsTaxFree app. It is step 10 of the setup guide.

1. Before the tablets

Do these in order on the Tax Free page of the app:

  1. Global Blue account — the IC2 Integra credentials Global Blue gave you (username, password, SenderId). Keep the Test environment until Global Blue confirms your go-live. Press Test login: it must say OK.
  2. Desks — Global Blue identifies each store by Shop ID and Desk ID. Add one desk per store that sells tax free. A desk may have its own login; otherwise the account login is used. Test each desk.
  3. A printer for the forms — the form prints on the tablet's chosen printer, or the store's default printer (step 7). Make sure that printer has printed a test.

2. Install the app on a tablet

The zrsTaxFree app is a web app: nothing to download from a store, it installs from its link.

  1. On the Tax Free page press Generate pairing code. You get a QR code, the link and a 6-digit code valid for 10 minutes. (The POS Tax Free tile can also generate a code.)
  2. Scan the QR with the tablet's camera, or type the link in the browser. The link identifies your shop.
  3. Android (Chrome): open the browser menu (⋮) and choose Install app (or press the "Install the app on this tablet" button the page shows). An icon appears on the home screen. iPad / iPhone (Safari only): tap Share (the square with the arrow), then Add to Home Screen, then Add. Chrome on iOS cannot install web apps.
  4. Open the app from its icon, not from the browser tab. An installed app keeps its own pairing, so pairing inside the browser tab would not carry over.
  5. Enter the 6-digit code and a name for the tablet (for example "Counter 1"). The tablet is now paired to your shop.

3. Check it works

  1. In the app open Settings (⚙︎): the store and the Global Blue environment are shown. Choose the printer for forms if the tablet should not use the store default.
  2. Press Print a test form. A sample form must come out of that printer. If it says "queued", the printer will print it on its next contact; if it fails, check step 7 of the setup guide.
  3. Optional dry run in the Global Blue test environment: make a POS sale, flag it on the POS Tax Free tile, finish the traveller capture on the tablet, issue the form, then void it.

4. Day to day
